Denbigh books are ideal for any type of modern pen, but the smooth opaque paper makes writing with a fountain pen sheer joy, even when using both sides of the sheet.

The Denbigh Commercial Rulled Book was originally a product of Waverley Stationery, Edinburgh (remember the Owl, the Pussycat and the Waverley Pen) and has been around for over 100 years. They are traditional strong well-made books with section-sewn pages printed with faint blue rullings on quality opaque paper and bound into rigid case-bound covers.

Great for my purposes! I intend to write in it in pencil primarily, but I did notice quite a bit of feathering when I used my fountain pens on the relatively absorbent paper. I thought the pens would perform a bit better, but since I’ll be using pencil, that is acceptable.

Used the Alwych notebook, like them, prefer a hardback for now and love the Denbigh, especially with my fountain pens. A little bleed through but nothing that bothers me and the nib (fine) glides across the paper. I like the Denbigh so much that this was a bulk order of 12 to ensure I always have one around. The size is perfect for the bag and jacket pocket. Over the years I’ve used Smythson (Panama and Chelsea), Mulberry, Moleskin, amongst many others and none are better than the Denbigh (or Alwych). I now never purchase any others.

I bought this notebook for 35 pence in 1975 as a student in London. I absolutely love this notebook. The latest edition is still a quality product. I am delighted to have new fresh notebooks to fill and use.

Simply love these notebooks, use them every day for work and leisure. Used other big brands previously, Moleskin, Smythson, Montblanc, amongst others, but now use nothing other than Denbigh. Hope they are around for years to come.

Been using these for ages, cannot see past them as a notebook. Deviated in the past to try Smythson, Mulberry, Stamford and Moleskin, always come back to Denbigh and now use nothing else, tried the rest.

Chosen though necessity as size required not in stock. Also would have preferred the original Alwych notebook, but remains out of stock.
